Healing Rose Massage is proud to offer several massage modalities. Feel Free to learn more about these modalities.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage can reduce pain and stiffness, as well as relax the body and increase blood flow. This modality uses five basic strokes: gliding (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), tapotement, friction, and vibration.
Therapeutic Massage
Therapeutic massage, or neuromuscular therapy, is a medically oriented modality that uses soft tissue manipulation to treat chronic pain associated with the nervous and muscular systems. Therapeutic massage uses techniques from Swedish and deep tissue massage, and is considered the best overall modality for most problems.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is performed directly before or after a sporting event. It is designed to help an athlete warm-up, cool-down, prevent injuries, or speed up the healing process. It uses localized techniques to focus primarily on the muscle groups that the athlete will be using.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage is similar to therapeutic massage, but is much more intense. It is designed to focus on trouble spots and manipulate deep layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance their function. Deep tissue massage is appropriate for those suffering from physical injury, pain, or those who perform heavy physical activity.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is a modality that is based on Swedish massage; however, many of the techniques are tailored to the needs of the client. The client lies on her side and pillows or bolsters are used to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Light strokes are used on the legs while the abdomen is generally avoided altogether. While it is possible, it is not advised to have a massage during the first trimester of pregnancy.
Chair Massage
Chair massage is done while clothed, and seated in a special chair that allows the therapist to massage the neck, back, arms, and hands. Chair massages are frequently performed off-site, such as at a client’s business, group functions, or parties.
